Couples Counselling

Couples counselling gives partners a safe, guided space to be heard and to work through issues like communication, conflict, intimacy and friendship. In each session we help you feel seen and understood, share your needs, and learn practical strategies to deepen connection. You can come any time—not just when things are bad—to strengthen your relationship, like a personal trainer for your partnership.

Reasons couples work with us

  • Feeling like “flatmates” not lovers, there’s no emotional intimacy, you can’t remember the last time there was physical connection.

  • Constantly feeling like you can’t speak the truth, fear of being attacked by your partner, feeling resentful and defensive.

  • Throwing the “kitchen sink” at each other pointing out what’s wrong vs what your partner has done for you recently.

  • Feeling like someone needs to win. The relationship is dominated by attack, defend, shut down, withdrawal.

  • Frustration around the core 5 issues: communication, conflict management, intimacy, parenting or money!

How it works

We help partners express their thoughts, feelings and unmet needs more clearly and compassionately. The counsellor remains neutral, avoids giving direct advice or passing judgment, and in a 90‑minute session gently interrupts unhelpful interaction patterns, offers calm guidance and teaches practical, evidence‑based tools you can use at home. Meaningful change typically unfolds over 6–10 sessions, sometimes requiring more time depending on complexity. Couples are invited to stay open, experiment with new ways of relating and prioritise the relationship over being right; this approach reunites you as a team, increases emotional connection and reduces conflict. The aim is to restore and strengthen your relationship, not to “fix” one another.

Sessions are non‑judgmental and delivered by telehealth across Australia. Most couples meet fortnightly for one to two months, then move to occasional check‑ins to maintain progress. At Embodied Haus we provide evidence‑based strategies tailored to your needs. In the first session the counsellor reviews your relationship history, clarifies your goals and values, and helps map a clearer, stronger path forward.

Leave each session feeling more grounded and steadier, with practical skills to recognise when you’re becoming overwhelmed and to take a timely, restorative break before saying things you’ll regret. Learn healthy, non‑attacking communication that reduces blame, and experience being genuinely seen, supported and carefully attended to by your partner. Discover your individual conflict style, learn to meet your partner where they are, deepen friendship and emotional intimacy, and at last say goodbye to the “flatmate” feeling. Our team is currently accepting new client bookings - all couples are welcome.
